Pedigree notes

Valero is inbred 3x4 to 1851 St. Leger Stakes winner and two-time English champion sire Newminster and 4x4x4 to 1852 English dual Classic winner and seven-time English champion sire Stockwell. He is a full brother to 1896 Polla de Potrancos (Argentine Two Thousand Guineas) winner Talma and to La Rachel, dam of 1905 Gran Premio Nacional winner Floreal (by Kendal).

Jane Hading, the dam of Valero, was imported to Argentina in 1889. She is a full sister to Janissary, winner of the 1890 St. James's Palace Stakes, and to Janetta, third dam of 1928 Irish St. Leger winner Law Suit and 1938 City and Suburban Handicap winner Pigskin. The siblings were produced from Jannette (by Lord Clifden), an exceptional race mare who won the 1878 Oaks Stakes and St. Leger Stakes.

Produced from the juvenile stakes winner Chevisaunce (by Stockwell out of the great 19th-century foundation mare Paradigm), Jannette is a half sister to Pretence (by Gladiateur), second dam of 1896 Gran Premio Selección (Argentine Oaks) winner Colombia, who in turn produced 1903 Gran Premio Nacional winner Américo. She is also a half sister to Tullia (by Petrarch), third dam of 1912 VRC Oaks winner Moe.
