Fun facts
- Patrick Husbands inherited the mount on Wando after Todd Kabel, who had been riding both Wando and his stablemate Mobil, chose the latter horse as his mount for the Queen's Plate. Mobil finished second, and in 2004, Kabel was aboard for all three of Mobil's stakes wins as the colt captured a title as Canadian champion older male.
- Wando was the seventh winner of the Canadian Triple Crown since it became officially linked as a series in 1959. The previous winners were New Providence (1959), Canebora (1963), With Approval (1989), Izvestia (1990), Dance Smartly (1991), and Peteski (1993).
- Wando’s nicknames included “Wando-ful” and “Magic Wando.”
- Wando became the namesake for a stakes race at Woodbine.
