An inconsistent filly, Blue Grass reserved her best days for Churchill Downs, where she won a stakes as a juvenile and captured the Kentucky Oaks at 3 in her only major success. She had some success as a broodmare but all in all was not one of the more memorable Oaks winners.

- Blue Jeans (1950, by Bull Lea) produced Bluescope (by Helioscope), winner of six good stakes races; 1968 Tanforan Handicap winner and world record setter Ole Bob Bowers (by Prince Blessed), who gained fame as the sire of the great gelding John Henry; and Turf Charger (by Royal Charger), a stakes winner at 3. She is the second dam of 1971 Stars and Stripes Handicap winner Knight in Armor and the third dam of 1972 Kelly-Olympic Handicap winner Gallant Gambler.
- Blue Ruler (1954, by Nasrullah) won the 1954 Starlet Stakes and Del Mar Futurity. He died as a 4-year-old.
