Condesa was the first filly to win the Gran Premio Nacional (Argentine Derby). She did well as a producer, producing two stakes winners, and had lasting significance as the ancestress of the great Argentine sire Congreve.

Condesa was bred in Eduardo Casey's and Santiago Casey's Haras La Curamalán and raced in the colors of Caballeriza Eduardo Casey. She was trained by J. Benítez. After her racing career, she became a broodmare for Haras La Curamalán, passing to the ownership of Juan A. Fernández's Haras Santa Rosa sometime prior to the birth of her last known foal, the 1902 Camors filly Cortesana.

Sired by the English import Earl Clifden (a son of 1863 St. Leger Stakes winner Lord Clifden who was imported to Argentina by Eduardo Casey and Santiago Casey in 1881), Condesa is inbred 4x5 to 1836 Two Thousand Guineas and Derby Stakes winner Bay Middleton, a two-time champion sire in England. Her dam Perdita (originally named “Miss Marion” in England) was imported to Argentina by Eduardo Casey and Santiago Casey in 1882 and died in 1884. She was produced from Symmetry (by Gemma di Vergy), whose dam The Deformed (by Burgundy or Harkaway) was a good juvenile in Ireland, winning the 1852 National Produce Stakes and Anglesey Stakes.

- Princesa (1896, by Esperanza) is the third dam of the great Congreve, winner of the 1927 Polla de Potrillos (Argentine Two Thousand Guineas) and 1928 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini and a seven-time Argentine champion sire.
