Crocket was a regular winner on the Western circuit as a 2-year-old, mostly in selling races. While she had the reputation of being very speedy, she was found wanting when taken to Saratoga and entered in similar events. At 3, she won the Kentucky Oaks by a length against only three rivals and reigned as the queen of the St. Louis Fair Grounds meeting, but a measure of her class can be found in a 9-furlong race on September 12 at Hawthorne, in which the champion mare Imp conceded her 10 pounds and beat her easily by two lengths. She does not appear to have been out again that year but was a regular winner at 4 with several stakes events to her credit. Her disposition and her form went into a decline after that, although she was a winner at 5 and 6. She was not a successful broodmare.

1898:
1899:
As an individual
A bay mare with good speed, Crocket was honest, consistent and game until her disposition began to sour. She handled off going well and was amenable to rating.
As a producer
Crocket was bred as a 5-year-old but slipped foal and was returned to training. She eventually bred four named foals, none of any significance.
Connections
Crocket was bred by James Galway at his Preakness Stud. She was owned by Julius Cahn. Her last recorded foal was registered in 1907.
Pedigree notes
Crocket is outcrossed through five generations. Sired by the stakes-winning Longfellow horse Linden, she is a full sister to multiple juvenile stakes winner Leonard Joe Hayman.
Crotchet, the dam of Crocket, was produced from the King Ernest mare Adage, whose dam Maxim (by Planet) is a half sister to 1883 Kentucky Oaks winner Vera (by King Alfonso). The next dam in the tail-female lineage, Veritas (by Lexington), is a full sister to the good stakes winners Vauxhall and Foster.
