The top filly in the West during the spring of her sophomore year, Monrovia was running in selling races by that fall. She never returned to stakes form though she raced for at least one more year. She appears to have last raced at San Francisco in December 1894. She was not a success as a broodmare.
Race record
Complete record not available. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, her record through the Kentucky Oaks was 9 starts, 3 wins, 2 seconds, 0 thirds.

1893:
As an individual
A bay mare, Monrovia was considered exceptionally beautiful. She handled off going well.
As a producer
Monrovia produced six named foals, none of any significance as racers or breeding stock.
Connections
Monrovia was bred by Milton Young at his McGrathiana Stud. She was owned and trained by Ed “Brown Dick” Brown, who purchased her as a yearling for US$1,600. He, in turn, sold her to Eugene Leigh for US$2,500 in September 1893, and she raced afterward in the name of Leigh's Lakeland Stable. By the summer of 1894, she had passed to the ownership of L. A. Legg, who lost her back to Lakeland Stable in fairly short order. As a broodmare, she was owned by A. B. Spreckels' Napa Stock Farm. She was last reported as having been bred to Solitaire II for 1910.
Pedigree notes
Monrovia's pedigree is outcrossed through five generations. Her dam, Leap Frog, was produced from Etta Powell (by Voucher), whose half sister Interpose (by Intruder) produced 1889 Kentucky Derby winner Spokane and stakes winner Greycloud (both by Hyder Ali).
Etta Powell and Interpose are out of Lilac (Lightning x Dolly Carter, by Glencoe), a half sister to 1872 Belmont Stakes and Travers Stakes winner Joe Daniels (by Australian) and to stakes winners Sanford (by Uncle Vic) and Pride of the Village (by Australian). Lilac is also a half sister to Miss Carter (by Sovereign), dam of 1876 Preakness Stakes winner Shirley (by Lexington), 1882 Ashland Oaks winner Issie (by King Alfonso), and stakes winner Poteen (by Powhattan).
