On-and-On may not have been quite as talented as his year-older half brother, Tim Tam, but he proved considerably more durable. He enjoyed modest success as a stallion but is best known today as the sire of 1977 Kentucky Broodmare of the Year Sweet Tooth, dam of the great racehorse and important sire Alydar.

He generally preferred to run close to the lead and make his bid early in the stretch.
