Moderately successful at 2, Selika was last of five in her prep race for the Kentucky Oaks but turned about to win the big race at 10-to-1 odds against three moderate opponents. She was not a particularly consistent filly and showed perhaps the best form of her career in defeating the high-class Rey El Santa Anita in a 9-furlong handicap at Latonia in September of her 3-year-old season. Her usefulness as a broodmare was comparable to her racing class.
