Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Snowflake was bred and owned by Walter J. Salmon's Mereworth Stud and remained the property of Mereworth Stud throughout her life. She was trained by Jack R. Pryce.
Pedigree notes
Snowflake is inbred 4x5 to 1880 Derby Stakes winner Bend Or and 5x5 to nine-time English champion sire St. Simon. She was produced from Snowdrop, a daughter of 1905 Derby Stakes winner Cicero who was inbred 2x3 to Cicero's sire, 1899 Ascot Gold Cup winner and two-time English champion sire Cyllene. (Cyllene was also a champion sire in Argentina.)
Snowdrop was produced from the Roi Herode mare Snowcapt, whose other produce included stakes winners Snowy (by Tryster), Snowwhite (by Ladkin), Air Pilot (by Swift and Sure) and Eastport (by Swift and Sure). Snowy, in turn, produced juvenile stakes winner Winter Sport (by Display). A half sister to the minor English stakes winner Reine de Neige (by Roi Herode's grandson Tetratema; second dam of 1934 Hopeful Stakes winner Psychic Bid), Snowcapt was produced from the Cyllene mare Snowflight.
