An exceptional racehorse in Argentina, Ahmad blotted his record only once, this when second to Golden Coin in the 1979 Premio America (ARG-G2). He successfully carried on the male line of his paternal grandsire Nashua in South America and begot a good sire son in Potrillazo.

Ahmad and his siblings were produced from Azyade, a daughter of 1944/1945 Argentine champion 3-year-old male Churrinche and a half sister to Roxanel, dam of multiple Venezuelan listed stakes winner Luisa Honoria (by Velvet Cap). The sisters are out of the Advocate mare Zeilah, a half sister to 1960/1961 Argentine champion older male Atlas (by Aristophanes). Zeilah is also a half sister to Cabila (by Churrinche), dam of 1962 Premio Federico de Alvear winner Djago (by Aristophanes).
Zeilah is out of Antinea, by 1940 Derby Stakes winner Pont l’Eveque. The next dam in Ahmad’s tail-female line, Yamile (by Congreve), was the best Argentine 3-year-old filly of her year, winning the 1939 Polla de Potrancas (Argentine One Thousand Guineas) and Gran Premio Selección. Originally namedl Heil!, Yamile was renamed following her racing career due to the association of her former name with Nazi Germany.
