Deeming had a good season as a 3-year-old, but the remainder of her racing career was eminently forgettable. She managed to pass on her own toughness and hardiness but not much class in a brief broodmare career.
Race record
56 starts, 6 wins, 13 seconds, 7 thirds, US$32,863

As an individual
A smallish bay mare, Deeming seemed to prefer surfaces with some moisture in them and was at her best over heavy going. She stayed well and was game.
As a producer
Deeming produced three foals, all of which started and won. Two, the Tryster colt Deemster and the Flyng Ebony filly Doris B. were stakes-placed, but Doris B. failed to produce any stakes horses or stakes producers. Deeming's only other foal, the 1934 Grandace filly Grandeem, died without issue.
Connections
Deeming was bred by J. W. Bailey. She was owned by C. B. Dailey, later passing to the ownership of C. B. Scully and then to Donegal Farm. There is no report of her after the birth of her 1934 foal, Grandeem.
Pedigree notes
Deeming is inbred 5x5 to seven-time English champion sire Hermit, winner of the 1867 Derby Stakes. She is a half sister to Belle Fair (by High Time), dam of stakes winners High Foot (by Prince Pal) and Sassy Time (by Mate).
Deeming's dam Pin Feather, a daughter of Canadian stakes winner Dalhousie, is a full sister to 1917 Astoria Stakes winner Stitch in Time and is out of stakes winner Pins and Needles (by Knight of the Thistle). A half sister to 1915 Travers Stakes winner Lady Rotha (by Golden Maxim or Fayette), Pins and Needles was produced from the Carbine mare Sandy Bar, whose dam Sanderling (by St. Simon) is a half sister to Sandfly (by Isonomy), second dam of 1914 Belmont Stakes winner Luke McLuke and third dam of 1918 Deutches Derby (German Derby) winner Marmor and 1930 Latonia Oaks winner Banner Bright. Sanderling is also a half sister to the minor English stakes winner Adderly (by Ayrshire), second dam of 1916 Travers Stakes winner Spur and third dam of two-time Jockey Club Gold Cup winner Dark Secret.
Books and media
Deeming is profiled in Chapter 5 of Avalyn Hunter's American Classic Pedigrees 1914-2002 (2003, Eclipse Press).
