Highly regarded enough for a tilt against colts in the 2010 Kentucky Derby (USA-G1), Devil May Care was not up to that task but was a three-time Grade 1 winner against her own division. Unfortunately, she did not live to enjoy a broodmare career as she was euthanized due to cancer as a 4-year-old.
Race record
9 starts, 5 wins, 0 seconds, 0 thirds, US$724,000

2010:
Assessments
Rated at 116 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap for American juvenile fillies of 2009, 7 pounds below She Be Wild (the official divisional champion) and Blind Luck.
Rated at 116 pounds for her performance in the 2010 Coaching Club American Oaks on the World's Best Racehorse Rankings, 9 pounds below top-rated females Goldikova and Zenyatta and 1 pound below American champion 3-year-old filly Blind Luck, the top-rated 3-year-old filly on dirt.
As an individual
A good-sized bay filly, Devil May Care typically stalked the pace in her races. She had a long, low, smooth stride. She had a tendency to loaf if she made the lead too soon.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Devil May Care was bred by Diamond A Racing Corp., which sold her for US$110,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale. She was owned by John Greathouse’s Glencrest Farm and was trained by Todd Pletcher. She was ridden to her Coaching Club American Oaks score by John Velazquez, her regular jockey. She was euthanized due to lymphosarcoma in May 2011.
