Arguably the best of Congreve's sons on the racetrack, Embrujo swept the 1939 Argentine Triple Crown while undefeated and was acknowledged the champion colt of the crop. His only two defeats occurred when he suffered injuries during the running. Although he never topped the Argentine general sire list, he was the dominant Classic sire of his generation. He sired three Argentine champion stallions and was also an important broodmare sire.

He died of colic in 1952 and was buried near the Haras El Paraiso stallion barn.
Pedigree notes
Embrujo is inbred 4x3 to English dual Classic winner and four-time English champion sire Persimmon and 5x5x4 to unbeaten 1884 Ascot Gold Cup winner and nine-time English champion sire St. Simon. He is a full brother to 1943 Polla de Potrancos de La Plata winner Embate and to stakes-placed Estirpe, second dam of 1959/60 Argentine champion 2-year-old male Celtibero and third dam of Argentine Group III winner Bereber. Embrujo is also a half brother to 1944 Gran Premio San Isidro winner Enojo (by Foxglove) and to stakes winner Erudita (by Zambo).
Embrujo and his siblings were produced from Premio General Luis Maria Campos winner Encore, whose dam Efilet was sired by 1915 Champion Stakes winner Let Fly from Efigie, a daughter of 1901 Gran Premio Nacional and Gran Premio Internacional winner Druid. The next dam in the tail-female line, Emocion, was sired by the English import Alerta (by 1883 Two Thousand Guineas winner Galliard) out of Emblema, by the English import El Amigo. The family was introduced to Argentina in 1887 with the importation of Emblema's granddam Empress, who had run third in the 1875 Oaks Stakes.
