Full Sail was not nearly the equal of his Derby Stakes-winning full brother Blue Peter as a racehorse, but as a sire he wielded equal if not greater influence. A first-rate sire and broodmare sire in Argentina, he founded a successful South American branch of the Fairway male line.

As an individual
A bay horse, Full Sail had an excellent shoulder, good rein length and strong hindquarters. His hocks were somewhat out behind him.
As a stallion
Full Sail ranked 14 times among the top 10 Argentine general sires and was champion sire in 1846 and 1948. He was also the Argentine champion broodmare sire of 1955, 1957 and 1958 and was runner-up in 1959 with another eight finishes among the top 10 maternal grandsires.

Full Sail was bred and owned by the 6th Earl of Rosebery. Following his racing career, he was purchased by the brothers Ricardo and Ezequiel Fernandez Guerrico for stud duty at their Haras Argentino. He stood at Haras Argentino throughout his stud career and was buried there following his death in early 1953.
