Emoción was the daughter of two champions and ran like it, becoming the best 3-year-old filly of her generation on Brazil. As a broodmare, she produced a champion and two Group 1-producing broodmares whose influence is still being felt.

Emoción was bred by Roberto and Nelson Seabra and raced for Stud Seabra. In 1969, she was exported to Argentina, in foal to Tang, and became part of the broodmare band at Haras Guanabara.

Emoción was produced from 1948 Argentine champion 3-year-old filly Empeñosa, who swept both the Polla de Potrancas (Argentine One Thousand Guineas) and Gran Premio Selección (Argentine Oaks) of her year and trained on to be a major winner in Argentina in 1949 and one of the best Brazilian-based sprinters of 1950. Empeñosa, in turn, was sired by two-time Argentine champion sire Full Sail (by Fairway) out of the Congreve mare Ermua, whose dam Guernica was sired by the important Argentine sire Sandal (by 1902 Ascot Gold Cup winner William the Third) out of Energie, by two-time Argentine champion sire Your Majesty. The next dam in Emoción’s tail-female line, Energica (by Cyllene), won the 1913 Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini. The female line traces back to the great Argentine foundation mare Ante Diem.
