Gallette was a beautifully-bred failure on the track. Proving all but devoid of ability on the flat, she was no better over jumps. As Belair Stud had plenty of more talented daughters of Sir Gallahad III to choose from for its broodmare band, she was sold for a mere US$250 and used as a hack before trainer Preston Burch picked her up. He put her back into training but soon realized that no matter what he did, she was simply too slow to have any chance of winning outside of the cheapest of claiming races. Fortunately, William Brann had a solution. The owner of the stallion Challenger II, he was keen on finding daughters of Sir Gallahad III to mate with his horse, duplicating the cross that had produced two-time American Horse of the Year Challedon. Brann and Burch entered into an arrangement to breed Gallette to Challenger II while alternating ownership of the resulting foals, and Brann hit the jackpot with the first foal from the arrangement, 1946 American champion handicap female Gallorette. Unfortunately, Gallette was often barren, but she managed to produced three other Challenger II fillies, all of some importance to American breeding.
