An undefeated champion in his native Argentina, Hi Happy had trouble adapting to American dirt but proved well suited to distance turf events. A member of the family of 1970 Canadian Horse of the Year and 1978 Canadian Broodmare of the Year Fanfreluche, he returned to Argentina to enter stud in 2019.

Hi Happy was bred and owned by Haras La Providencia, racing in the USA under the ownership of La Providencia LLC. In Argentina, he was ridden by Altair Domingos in all six of his starts. While in the United States, he was trained by Felipe Souza for his first four starts and then by Todd Pletcher. He returned to Argentina in 2019 following the conclusion of his racing career and entered stud in 2019 at Haras Vacación.
