Like most of Rock Sand's daughters bred by August Belmont, Hour Glass II (who acquired the Roman numeral attached to her name when she was imported to the United States) got no opportunity to prove her merits on the race course. Her claim to fame is based on her performance in the breeding shed, where she produced one Belmont Stakes winner and became the granddam of another. She is also the granddam of Unbreakable, whose grandson Native Dancer was one of the all-time greats and a stallion of immense significance.
