Mr. Prospector (USA) x Miesque (USA), by Nureyev (USA)
Family 20
Kingmambo was not the great champion that his dam Miesque had been, but he was no slouch either, winning three Group 1 races as a 3-year-old and becoming the first of his dam's two French Classic winners. He lived up to his fine racetrack performance and beautiful breeding at stud, where he became one of the few top sons of Mr. Prospector whose progeny were popular and effective in Europe. He also proved influential as a broodmare sire.
Race record
13 starts, 5 wins, 4 seconds, 1 third, US$733,139 (converted from earnings in England and France)

1993:
Assessments
Earned Timeform ratings of 110 pounds at age 2 and 125 pounds at age 3.
As an individual
A handsome, close-coupled, well-balanced bay horse with the strong hind leg typical of the Mr. Prospector tribe, Kingmambo stood 15.3-1/2 hands. He had a strong will to win as a racehorse but tended to do no more than he was asked to do. A laid-back individual as a racehorse, he was a tough customer as a breeding stallion but mellowed after being pensioned and became much more people-friendly.
As a stallion
Kingmambo sired 480 winners (52.6%) and 85 stakes winners (9.3%) from 913 foals of racing age per Jockey Club records. He is a Classic/Solid chef-de-race in the Roman-Miller dosage system.
