One of the great bargains of Canadian racing history, Lexie Lou rose from being a cheap yearling to being a Classic winner against males in her native land. A winner of two-thirds of Canada’s Triple Tiara series against her own sex, she also ran an honorable second to dual American Classic winner California Chrome when raced against males in the United States. She came back from an eye injury suffered in 2015 to be a champion again at 5 and retired with four Sovereign Awards for Canadian championships to her credit. She has gotten off to a fine start as a broodmare, becoming a Group 1 producer in 2022.

Following her first start of 2014, she was sold privately to MGM Studios chairman and CEO Gary Barber for CAN$400,000. After her sale, she was trained by Mark Casse. She was regularly ridden by Patrick Husbands, who piloted the filly to her Classic successes. Following her racing career, she was consigned to the 2016 Keeneland November mixed sale as a horse of racing age or broodmare prospect and sold for US$1 million to Japan's K I Farm.

Fun facts
- Lexie Lou was named after John Ross’s first granddaughter.
- Lexie Lou was the sixth filly to win both the Woodbine (or Canadian) Oaks and the Queen’s Plate, following Flaming Page (1962), La Lorgnette (1985), Dance Smartly (1991), Dancethruthedawn (2001), and Inglorious (2011). Following Lexie Lou, Holy Helena (2017) and Moira (2022) also accomplished the double.
- Although Lexie Lou won three Canadian Classics in 2014, she did not win either the Canadian Triple Crown or the Canadian Triple Tiara. Her Classic wins were in the Queen’s Plate from the Triple Crown series and the Woodbine Oaks and Wonder Where Stakes from the Triple Tiara series.
- Lexie Lou’s clash with California Chrome was not only a match between multiple Classic winners and eventual Horse of the Year honorees but between two rags-to-riches horses, as Chrome (who was racing as a homebred for Perry Martin and Steve Coburn) was bred on a total investment of no more than US$10,500 between the price of his dam and his sire’s stud fee.
