One of the best sprinters of 1985, Mt. Livermore was tough and consistent. While he was fairly beaten by Precisionist in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (USA-G1), he and Smile (who finished second, and who would be the American champion sprinter of 1986) probably compromised each others’ chances by getting caught up in a speed duel. Mt. Livermore became a good but not top-class stallion who sired six North American champions.
