Probably better as a sprinter than around two turns, Native Street nonetheless withstood a long drive gamely to capture her edition of the Kentucky Oaks, with eventual American champion 3-year-old filly Lady Pitt in the beaten field. She proved a good broodmare and had several influential daughters.

Fun facts
- Native Street was part of a Kentucky Oaks/Kentucky Derby double for her sire Native Dancer, who also sired 1966 Kentucky Derby winner Kauai King. Native Dancer thus became the fourth stallion to sire the winners of the Derby and the Oaks in the same year; the others are King Alfonso, sire of 1885 Derby winner Joe Cotton and 1885 Oaks winner Lizzie Dwyer; McGee, sire of 1918 Derby winner Exterminator and 1918 Oaks winner Viva America; and Bull Lea, sire of 1952 Derby winner Hill Gail and 1952 Oaks winner Real Delight. No stallion has completed the double since Native Dancer.
- Native Street and Kauai King also provided jockey Don Brumfield with a rare Derby/Oaks double in the same year. Previous jockeys to accomplish the feat were Isaac Murphy on Modesty (Oaks) and Buchanan (Derby) in 1884, Don Meade on Barn Swallow (Oaks) and Brokers Tip (Derby) in 1933, Bill Boland on Ari's Mona (Oaks) and Middleground (Derby) in 1950, and Eddie Arcaro aboard Real Delight (Oaks) and Hill Gail (Derby) in 1952. The most recent jockey to sweep the Oaks and the Derby in the same year is Calvin Borel, who rode Rachel Alexandra (Oaks) and Mine That Bird (Derby) in 2009.
