Not the most consistent of fillies at the best of times, Our Cheri Amour was probably finished as a race mare by a heavy 20-race schedule at 3. Although she remained in training for three more years, she was able to make a total of only five starts at ages 4 through 6 and won only once after her 3-year-old season. She was bred to a series of poor sires as a broodmare, effectively wasting her breeding career.
Race record
38 starts, 7 wins, 8 seconds, 4 thirds, US$176,839

Assessments
Rated at 117 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American 3-year-old fillies of 1971, 9 pounds below champion Turkish Trousers.
As an individual
A bay mare; no further information available.
As a producer
Our Cheri Amour produced six named foals. Five started but none were winners, and neither of her producing daughters managed to come up with a winner.
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Our Cheri Amour was bred by Barracks Stable. She was owned by Helen D. Vizzi, who bought the filly for US$1,800 from the 1969 Timonium yearling sale on the advice of her son Tullius Vizzi. Our Cheri Amour was trained by John C. Friedman. Her last foal, the Masked Dancer filly Souvenir d'Amour, was foaled in 1984.
Pedigree notes
Sired by 1953 American champion 2-year-old male Porterhouse, Our Cheri Amour is outcrossed through five generations. She is a full sister to Our Love Affair, dam of stakes winner For Love and Glory (by Tinajero).
Our Cheri Amour and Our Love Affair were the only foals produced from For Love, a non-winning daughter of multiple English stakes winner Blue Prince (by Princequillo) and a half sister to For Joy (by Johns Joy), dam of the minor stakes winner Bridge Day (by Tudor Minstrel) and third dam of Grade 3 winner Tookin Down. The sisters are out of the non-winning Count Fleet mare Forfeit, a half sister to 1955 Mayflower Stakes winner Countermand (by Greek Song) and 1951 Astarita Stakes winner Place Card (by Eight Thirty). Produced from the stakes-winning Snark mare Everget, Forfeit is also a half sister to Late Show (by Eight Thirty), dam of 1961 Californian Stakes winner First Balcony (by Greek Song), and to Night Letter (by Greek Song), dam of 1972 New Orleans Handicap winner Urgent Message (by Ambiopoise) and second dam of 1972 City of Baltimore Handicap winner Archie Spears.
Books and media
Our Cheri Amour is profiled in Chapter 10 of Avalyn Hunter's American Classic Pedigrees 1914-2002 (2003, Eclipse Press).

Fun facts
- Our Cheri Amour was more consistent against males than her fellow females, winning four times against the boys at 2 and 3 including the 1971 Militia Handicap. (She proved out of her depth when sent against Shuvee and the best of the male stayers in the 1971 Jockey Club Gold Cup, however.)
