Put It Back (USA)

February 26, 1998 – Living

Honour and Glory (USA) x Miss Shoplifter (USA), by Exuberant (USA)

Family 6-a

Put It Back was bred for speed and had plenty of it, going unbeaten as a 3-year-old in the sprint ranks until injury put an end to his racing career. A success as a regional sire in Florida, he has been still more successful in Brazil, leading the general sire list there twice, and is becoming an important broodmare sire in that country.

Race record

7 starts, 5 wins, 1 second, 1 third, US$232,895

2001:
  • Won Riva Ridge Stakes (USA-G2, 7FD, Belmont)
  • Won Best Turn S. (USA-L, 6FD, Aqueduct)

As an individual

A dark bay or brown horse, Put It Back is powerful and muscular with a good shoulder and good overall balance. He is somewhat base-narrow in front and appears slightly short-legged for his height.

As a stallion

A versatile stallion, Put It Back has tended to be an influence for speed and precocity but has sired top-class runners at distances up to 2400 meters (about 1½ miles). He was awarded the Mossoro Trophy as “Stallion of the Year” in Brazil in 2012/2013 through 2014/2015.
