One of three Group 1 winners produced by the excellent Brazilian matron Romany Queen (a descendant of the American matriarch Lady Be Good), English Major was the dominant juvenile male of his crop but was never able to show comparable form at 3 through 5 and won only one race after his 2-year-old season. He has received limited opportunities since his retirement to stud in 2019.
