A nice but not outstanding race mare, Silent Beauty won three other stakes besides the Kentucky Oaks. Her merits compared to the top fillies of her crop can be gauged by her 14-1 Oaks odds in a race in which most of the year's best sophomore fillies were absent. She was a moderately successful broodmare but had little lasting influence, in part because she was often bred to indifferent sires.
Race record

Assessments
Rated at 119 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American 3-year-old fillies of 1971, 7 pounds below champion Turkish Trousers.
As an individual
A dark bay or brown mare, Silent Beauty did not race at 2 due to a chipped sesamoid. She was an honest and hard-trying runner with good natural speed.
As a producer
Silent Beauty produced eight named foals, of which seven started and five won. Her important foals are as follow:
Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Silent Beauty was bred and owned by Leslie Combs II, who raced her in the colors of Spendthrift Farm as a 4-year-old. She was trained by L. Fischer and R. J. “Dick” Fischer; the latter was her trainer of record for the Kentucky Oaks. She was ridden to her Classic score by Kenny Knapp. Her last foal, the Caro colt Papist, was born in 1986.
Pedigree notes
Sired by 1966 Jersey Derby winner Creme dela Creme (by Olympia), Silent Beauty is inbred 5x4 to four-time American champion sire Sir Gallahad III. She is also inbred 5x5 to English and French champion sire Pharos and 1923 English champion 2-year-old filly Mumtaz Mahal. She is a half sister to stakes winners Squabble (by Never Bend), Crown the Queen (by Swaps), and Village Sass (by Sassafras). Crown the Queen, in turn, produced Grade 3 winner Huggle Duggle (by Never Bend) and through her is the second dam of German Group 3 winner Al Mundhir and the third dam of Grade 2 winner Seattle Fitz and multiple Argentine Group 3 winner Fantastica Roma. Through another daughter, stakes-placed Wife for Life (by Dynaformer), Crown the Queen is the second dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Hollywood Story. As for Village Sass, she is the dam of multiple stakes winner Sassy Chimes (by Chimes Band) and the second dam of Grade 2 winner Call Me George.
Village Beauty, the dam of Silent Beauty and her siblings, was stakes-placed on the track. She is a full sister to Aparoma, third dam of multiple French Group 3 winner Holst, and a half sister to stakes winner Lady Wayward (by Dedicate), dam of stakes winner Never Ask (by Never Bend).
Village Beauty and her siblings, in turn, are out of the stakes-placed Spy Song mare Spring Tune, a half sister to multiple English stakes winner Young Man's Fancy (by Alycidon) and to stakes-placed Sonata II (by Hyperion), second dam of Venezuelan Group 3 winner Tres Jolie. The next dam in the tail-female line, Spring Beauty, is a winning daughter of Sir Gallahad III out of the great foundation mare Myrtlewood (by Blue Larkspur).

Fun facts
- Since Silent Beauty's win in the 1971 Kentucky Oaks, two other American-bred fillies have been given that name. The first was a 1992 filly by Shot Gun Scott out of Silent Prospect, by Northern Prospect; the other was a 2003 filly by Gone West out of Discovering Beauty, by Theatrical. Neither achieved anything of note as racers or producers.
