Stepping High had a touch of genuine talent, but not enough to make her competitive with the best fillies of her day. What it was enough for was a place in the Greentree Stud broodmare band, and there she produced two stakes-winning sons that became stallions of some influence. None of Stepping High’s daughters were notable producers, but several of their daughters and granddaughters became the dams of good winners.
