A grandson of 1992 Canadian champion older female and 1991 Spinster Stakes (USA-G1) winner Wilderness Song, Up With the Birds did his bloodlines proud by becoming a Canadian champion and American Grade 1 winner in his own right. While not as successful as an older runner, he was honest and always dangerous if the pace set up to his liking.

As an individual
A bay; Up With the Birds typically came from off the pace. He was courageous and willing on the track but needed time between peak efforts. At his best, he had a good turn of foot.
Connections
Foaled in Ontario, Up With the Birds was bred and owned by Sam-Son Farm, which raced him in partnership with Agave Racing Stable. He was trained by Malcolm Pierce in 2012-2014. He was then sent to Graham Motion, returning to Pierce’s barn in 2016. He was ridden to his Breeders’ Stakes victory by Eurico Rosa da Silva. Up With the Birds retired to Sam-Son Farm at the conclusion of his racing career.
