American Family 1
A son of the upset 1988 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (USA-G1) winner Is It True, Yes It's True was himself a good juvenile. At 3, he trained on to become one of the top American sprinters of 1999. Yes It's True became a good, consistent sire of speed and precocity at stud, continuing a branch of the Bold Ruler male line begun by his paternal grandsire, Raja Baba.

Assessments
Rated at 120 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American male sprinters of 1999, 6 pounds below divisional champion Artax (a 4-year-old) but tops among 3-year-olds in the sprint division.
As an individual
Yes It's True stood 16.1 hands. He was a short-coupled, powerfully made bay horse of sprinting type with exceptionally strong hindquarters and good overall balance. He had a longer stride than might have been expected with fluid action.
As a stallion
According to The Blood-Horse, Yes It's True was second on the American freshman sire list in 2004. According to statistics compiled by The Jockey Club, he has sired 834 winners (69.8%) and 64 stakes winners (5.4%) from 1194 named foals of racing age as of April 28, 2021. A good speed sire, he tended to throw his own physical type.

Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Yes It's True was bred by George Waggoner Stables, Inc., which sold the colt for US$220,000 at the 1997 Keeneland September yearling sale. Yes It's True raced for Padua Stables, which paid US$800,000 for him at the 1998 Barrett's Equine Sales auction of 2-year-olds in training. He was trained by D. Wayne Lukas. He entered stud in Florida in 2001 at Padua Farm. He moved to Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Kentucky, in September 2004. Yes It's True died November 23, 2015, after emergency surgery failed to resolve a perforated intestine.
Pedigree notes
Yes It's True is inbred 5x5 to two-time English champion sire Nearco, an unbeaten champion on the race course. He is a full brother to multiple stakes winner Honest Deceiver and a half brother to Clever Hou (by Houston), second dam of Korean Group 2 winner Never Seen Before.
A half sister to Grade 3 winner Prince of the Mt. (by Mt. Livermore) and to Ronique (by Raise a Native), dam of Grade 2 winner Kiss a Native (by Kissing Kris), Clever Monique is out of multiple stakes winner Monique Rene (by Prince of Ascot), who reigned as the queen of Louisiana racing in the early 1980s. The next dam in the tail-female line, Party Date (by Speedy Frank), also produced Louisiana stakes winners Lady Greenfield and Homemade Lovin, both by Hasty Royalty.

Fun facts
- Although George Waggoner is Yes It's True's breeder of record, the mating that produced the horse was planned by John T. L. Jones, Jr., who owned the colt's dam Clever Monique at the time she was bred to Is It True. Waggoner, who had been trying to arrange a private purchase of Clever Monique for several years, bought her for US$16,000 at the 1995 Keeneland November mixed sale while she was carrying Yes It's True.
- Yes It's True was originally named “Es Verdad” (it's true in Spanish).
