A solid but unspectacular racehorse, Dixieland Band entered stud without fanfare but earned respect over his long stud career as a consistent and versatile stallion. A good sire of winners all over the distance spectrum, he was still better as a broodmare sire. His great strength in pedigrees has been his ability to cross successfully with a wide range of other bloodlines.
