Despite her having won only one major race, Escutcheon was still considered one of the best 3-year-old fillies of 1930—a rating which may have owed more to the mystique of the New York racing circuit and the overall weakness of the division than to great merit on her part. Her standing as an important broodmare, on the other hand, is beyond question. She had a good record in her own right as the dam of three stakes winners, but it was her great producing daughter Bourtai who etched her name deep into the world's stud books. Escutcheon has also had influence through her other daughters, particularly Demolition.
