An unlucky horse at 3, when he was disqualified from a win in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French Two Thousand Guineas), Faraway Son turned things around at 4 to be acknowledged as France’s best miler. He was not as good a sire as a racer, but he did get one outstanding runner in Waya, the American champion older female of 1979.
