A modest race mare, Filipina reserved her best for the breeding shed. From five foals by the Round Table stallion Table Play, she produced three Argentine Classic winners (two of them champions), a Group 1 producer and a multiple stakes producer. Her only foal not sired by Table Play was a stakes winner.
Race record
11 starts, 2 wins, 731,500 Argentine pesos
As an individual
A chestnut mare, Filipina had a good shoulder, short cannons and clean legs. Her feet were small and she was perhaps a little light on bone.
As a producer
Filipina produced six named foals, all of some importance:
Connections
Filipina was owned by Haras Don Yeye.
Pedigree notes
Filipina is outcrossed through five generations. She is out of Rosa Roja, a daughter of 1930 Eclipse Stakes winner Rustom Pasha and Reseda, whose sire Fox Cub led the Argentine general sire list in 1949. Reseda, in turn, was produced from Rosita Forbes, a daughter of the great Argentine champion Macon and the English import Roseray (by 1921 Two Thousand Guineas winner Craig an Eran).
