Rated at 123 pounds on the Daily Racing Form's Free Handicap for American turf females of 1988, 3 pounds below champion Miesque.
As an individual
A gray mare, Indian Skimmer was officially registered as a roan. She was powerfully made with a strong shoulder and a deep girth and had a brilliant turn of foot. Her action was rather round and short-striding, but she was consistent and genuine.
As a producer
In a broodmare career dogged by reproductive difficulties, Indian Skimmer produced five named foals. Only her last foal, the 2002 Green Desert gelding Witchry, started and won. Indian Skimmer's only producing daughter, Lamsat al Hob (by Lion Cavern) has not produced any stakes winners but does have several daughters, though as of 2022 only one has produced a foal.
Connections:
Foaled in Kentucky, Indian Skimmer was bred by Ashford Stud and Ron Worswick. She was owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum. She was trained by Henry Cecil (later Sir Henry Cecil).
