She went on to win the race and later continued her female line's tradition of fine broodmares, producing two top colts in Never Bend and Bold Reason.

Fun facts
- With a nod to her dam Be Faithful, Lalun was named for a character in Rudyard Kipling's poem “With Scindia to Delhi.” In the poem, Lalun was the faithful lover of an Indian prince.
- Lalun was the first of four Kentucky Oaks winners for Cain Hoy Stable. The others were Hidden Talent (1959), Make Sail (1960) and Sally Ship (1963). All four were homebreds.
- Although Guggenheim was Lalun's official breeder, she was actually conceived from a mating put together by John S. Phipps, who leased Lalun's dam Be Faithful to Guggenheim prior to the filly's birth.
