A fifth-generation descendant of the great matriarch Hildene, Silken Cat carved her own place in Thoroughbred history as a champion on the track and as the dam of another champion. She is one of the few horses foaled in Quebec to have a significant impact and is perhaps the most important horse with strong ties to the province since Fanfreluche.

Foaled in Quebec, Silken Cat was bred by Ferme du Bois-Vert. She was owned by Aaron and Marie Jones, who purchased the filly for US$95,000 from the 1994 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga August yearling sale. She died of natural causes in her paddock in March 2016.

- Irap (2014, by Tiznow) won the 2017 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (USA-G2).
