A Classic winner in his native Argentina as a 3-year-old, Village King was sent to the United States but did not show his top form while there and may have been injured in his final American start, the 2019 Man o’ War Stakes (USA-G1). Returned to Argentina, he spent a total of 17 months away from the races but became a Group 1-placed Group 3 winner at 6. He reached his peak at age 7, winning three Group 1 races that year including a smashing win in Argentina’s top prize for horses aged 3 and up, the Gran Premio Carlos Pellegrini (ARG-G1). The winner of three Pellegrini Awards in 2021 including the Horse of the Year trophy, Village King is now at stud in his native land.
