Although he had some talent, Choctaw Ridge was never able to live up to the promise of his excellent pedigree on the race track. As a stallion, he was a different story. Sent to Brazil for stallion duty, he became a champion sire in his adoptive country and has also done well as a broodmare sire.

As an individual
A handsome dark bay or brown horse, Choctaw Ridge was muscular and powerful but rather heavy-topped. He had the excellent hindquarters typical of Secretariat with a sloping croup. His shoulder was well sloped.
As a stallion
Choctaw Ridge was awarded the 2001/2002 Mossoró Trophy as Brazil’s “Stallion of the Year.” According to statistics compiled by The Jockey Club, Choctaw Ridge sired 500 winners (55.7%) and 53 stakes winners (5.9%) from 897 foals of racing age.
