On the surface, Cool Mood was not particularly impressive as either a racehorse or a broodmare. A winner of eight of her 41 starts, she produced just one relatively minor stakes winner from 13 named foals. There is more to her profile than bald statistics, however. Talented enough to come up with a win in Canada's top race for 3-year-old fillies, the Canadian Oaks, she threw no less than five stakes-producing daughters, including two Canadian Broodmares of the Year, and is the granddam of two Canadian Triple Crown winners and a Belmont Stakes (USA-G1) winner. That would seem legacy enough for any mare.
