Long Legend raced creditably in England but did not earn black type, proving roughly the equivalent of a good American allowance winner. Based on the race records of her progeny, she was a moderately successful broodmare, but the breeding records of her son Mr. Greeley and several of her daughters put a different complexion on her importance.

Connections
Foaled in Kentucky, Long Legend was bred by Dayton Unlimited. She was sent to the 1983 Keeneland November mixed sale, covered by L’Enjoleur, and brought US$300,000. After producing her first six foals for Mrs. John W. Hanes (née Hope Yandell), Long Legend went back to Keeneland November in 1989 and sold for US$100,000, in foal to Linkage. Her new owner was Herman Sarkowsky, who got her back twice from Keeneland November after she failed to meet her reserves before she finally hammered for US$250,000 at the 1995 Keeneland November sale, in foal to Carson City. The foal she was carrying, the unraced Fritzy Ritz, was officially bred by the partnership of Daniel Teinowitz, Vinery, and Larry Taylor, and then she skipped a year’s production before reappearing at Keeneland November in 1997, in foal to Smart Strike. She sold for US$145,000 and produced her last three foals as the property of Jayeff B Stables.

Designated as a Reine-de-Course by pedigree analyst Ellen Parker, Long Legend produced 16 named foals, of which 14 started and eight won. Her important foals are as follow:

She is the dam of listed stakes winner Binalegend (by Binalong) and is the second dam of 2006 American champion 2-year-old male and 2007 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (USA-G1) winner Street Sense, a good sire. She is also the third dam of Grade 3 winner Encino.

Something of a hit-or-miss sire, he begot 64 stakes winners from 1466 named foals but had some very good ones among them, headed by 2006 European champion 2-year-old filly Finsceal Beo.
- Uforia (1995, by Zilzal) ran unplaced in both her starts but is the dam of 2008 Dee Stakes (ENG-G3) and 2011 Arlington Handicap (USA-G3) winner Tajaaweed (by Dynaformer). She is also the second dam of multiple Grade 1 winner Paradise Woods.
- Brightbraveandgood (1998, by Smart Strike) failed to win or place in three starts but is the second dam of multiple Grade 3 winner Ol’ Fashion Gal.
