Fun facts
- Princessnesian's swan song was the 1969 Santa Margarita Handicap, which was intended to be her final start before she began her breeding career. Tragically, this was also the last race for 1968 American champion 3-year-old filly Dark Mirage, who suffered a dislocated fetlock and eventually had to be euthanized due to complications from her injury.
- Princessnesian was the third filly or mare to win the Hollywood Gold Cup (now the Gold Cup Stakes at Santa Anita, USA-G1), following Happy Issue (1944) and Two Lea (1952). The feat has not been accomplished by a distaffer since Princessnesian's victory.
- Princessnesian's time of 1:59-4/5 for the 1968 Hollywood Gold Cup set a new record for a filly or mare at 10 furlongs on dirt.
- Princessnesian's win in the Hollywood Gold Cup was part of a remarkable day for jockey Don Pierce, who won five of the six races he contested on the day's card.
