Razyana could not win even in modest company during her brief career on the race course, but in the paddocks she proved to be a worthy descendant of the foundation mare Almahmoud. She produced five stakes winners, but her fame rests on her first foal, Danehill, a Group 1 winner in the race course and one of the greatest international sires of modern times.

An attractive, elegant bay mare built along staying lines, Rayzana had prominent withers and a long, sloping pelvis. She was a good mover, an attribute passed on to her best son, Danehill.

Foaled in Kentucky, Razyana was bred by Daniel Van Clief and John Galbreath. A US$350,000 yearling at the 1982 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale, she was owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah's Juddmonte Farms. She died of complications of foaling after producing a Distant View colt in February 2004. Ironically, she had been scheduled to be pensioned from breeding had she lived.

- Danehill (1986, by Danzig) won the 1989 Ladbroke Sprint Cup (ENG-G1) and was the top European 3-year-old sprinter on the 1989 International Classification. At stud, he was sensational, earning nine sire championships in Australia, three in England and two in France. According to Thoroughbred Times, he was also the American champion sire of 2001.
- Euphonic (1989, by The Minstrel) won the 1992 Prix Amandine (FR-L) and was Group 2-placed.
- Eagle Eyed (1991, by Danzig) won the 1994 Arlington Classic (USA-G2). He was not a particularly good sire in the United States and was exported to Turkey in 1999. There, he was among the top 10 Turkish sires eight times, including a runner-up finish in 2004.
- Harpia (1994, by Danzig) won the 1999 Shirley Jones Handicap (USA-G3). She is the second dam of 2023 February Stakes (JPN-G1) winner Lemon Pop.
- Shibboleth (1997, by Danzig) won the 2001 Criterion Stakes (ENG-G3) and the 2002 Jaipur Handicap (USA-G3). He died of laminitis in October 2002.
- Family (1999, by Danzig) is the dam of 2012 Acomb Stakes (ENG-G3) winner Dundonnell (by First Defence).

- “Razyana” is the name of the fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare) in Azerbajani, a Turkic language. Fennel is native to the coastal regions of the Mediterranean and is widely cultivated as an herb.
