Foaled in the same crop as his champion “nephew” Rhythm, Confidential Talk was a Grade 2 winner but was not quite good enough to justify his retention as a stallion prospect for the Phipps family at Claiborne Farm, already home to Private Account. (A multiple stakes winner by Damascus and out of Confidentiality's dam Numbered Account, Private Account was already a well-established stud success.) Thus, Confidential Talk was exported to Argentina, where he added to the family reputation for producing good sires by siring at least two champions and a number of Group 1 winners.

Foaled in Kentucky, Confidential Talk was bred and owned by Ogden Phipps. He was trained by Shug McGaughey. He was exported to Argentina following his racing career and entered stud there in 1991 at Haras Vacación. From there, he was transferred to the Brazilian stud Haras Calunga in 2004. From there he moved to another Brazilian stud, Haras Bage do Sul, where he stood from 2007 until his death from equine protozoan myoencephalitis in March 2008.
